China Nut Expo
THE Australian almond industry undertook a trade mission to China by participating and exhibiting at the 2024 China Nut Expo and Trade Conference . This program ran from April 17 to 19 in Hefei , China . China is our largest single country market for Australian almonds . In our last marketing year , we sold 33,434 tonnes of Australian almonds to China . The ABA Marketing Officer , Lou Martin , participated in the Almond Plenary Session at the full day ’ s Conference that opened this year ’ s China Nut Expo . This trade fair attracted several thousand Chinese nut industry stakeholders with a focus on the roasting and snacking category . Senior executives from our marketers , along with the ABA , promoted our New Season Australian almond crop .
INC Congress – Vancouver
FROM May 6 to 10 , the annual International Nut Congress was held in Vancouver , with a significant focus on the current challenges in global almond production . The event featured a roundtable discussion about almonds , offering a platform to address global issues , challenges , and potential outcomes affecting the industry . Representing Australia was Almondco ’ s long-serving Managing Director , Brenton Woolston , who , along with fellow panel members Laura Gerhard ( USA ) and Joan Fortuny ( Spain ), contributed valuable insights .
Sial China in Shanghai
THE Australian almond industry also exhibited at the annual Sial China trade fair . It was held in Shanghai and ran from 28 to 30 May . It is one of the largest food exhibitions in China with more than 5,000 exhibitors from over 70 countries , and more than 180,000 professionals from 110 countries visiting the Show . Our Australian almond booth was part of the Food South Australia pavilion and we were supported by the FoodSA team as well as an Australian almond industry specific business translator .
