Hannah Maebelle Apostol is on a Mission to Transform Women’ s Healthcare
Hannah Maebelle Apostol has always understood healthcare not just as a profession but as an honest and personal calling. Now a candidate for the Doctor of Nursing Practice, Family Nurse Practitioner degree at Columbia University with a sub-specialty in Women’ s Health, she brings together years of academic preparation and hands-on clinical experience guided by a clear purpose. Her journey reflects a commitment to expanding access to care, advocating for underserved communities, and reshaping the systems that often fail those who need them most.
Apostol holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in Women and Gender Studies from California State University, Fullerton. Her academic background blends scientific rigor with a focus on social justice and gender equity, forming the foundation for the work she now pursues in clinical settings. Throughout her training and professional practice, she has been especially committed to promoting equitable healthcare access for underserved communities, particularly women of color and LGBTQIA + populations.
Her clinical experience is a mirror of that dedication. Apostol has worked across surgical and gynecological settings as well as home and hospital environments, developing expertise in pre-operative and post-operative care, phlebotomy, and patient education. In every space she enters, she prioritizes inclusive and patient-centered care, recognizing that trust, listening, and respect are as essential as clinical skill.
Today, she continues her professional journey in New York City as a Registered Nurse II at Urban Health
Plan, a Federally Qualified Health Center. There, she provides comprehensive care to diverse and historically marginalized populations through the center’ s Adult Internal Medicine, Adult Urgent Care, and Center for Healthy Aging departments. At the same time, she serves as a School Nurse caring for children from kindergarten through 12th grade. Beyond her clinical responsibilities, Apostol is actively involved in leadership, research, and presentation work, contributing to evidence-based projects that examine and address healthcare disparities. Recently, she began a hybrid research clinical role as a Nurse Interventionist with the Columbia University School of Nursing, further expanding her impact at the intersection of research and practice.
