INSA in Action: Leadership, Service, and Community Impact
The Idaho State Nurse Association( INSA) is entering the new year with strong leadership, meaningful service, and a continued commitment to community engagement.
The newly elected executive board brings together nursing students from across Idaho who are passionate about leadership development and professional growth. Karina Silva, President of INSA, and Vice President Isabella Cantu recently completed their third semester in the nursing program at the College of Eastern Idaho, while Secretary-Treasurer Nora Sprague completed her sixth semester in the Boise State University Nursing Program. Together, the leadership team is focused on strengthening the organization while preparing for future roles as nurse leaders.
This past semester, INSA demonstrated its dedication to service through both fundraising and volunteer efforts. Vice President Isabella Cantu organized a fundraiser benefiting the American Diabetes Association, raising $ 319 to support diabetes research and education. Participants were also encouraged to engage in a 30-mile walking challenge throughout the month to promote awareness and healthy activity.
In addition to fundraising, INSA members volunteered at the local YMCA Christmas Tree Lot, an annual community event with proceeds supporting scholarships for youth and families in need. This opportunity allowed members to give back during the holiday season while supporting access to education and community resources.
Looking ahead, INSA plans to continue its outreach by preparing meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, providing comfort and support to those facing medical challenges. The organization also hopes to attend the 74th Annual Convention in Houston, Texas, where members aim to gain valuable leadership experience, network with peers nationwide, and further strengthen their chapter.
Through leadership development, service initiatives, and a strong sense of community, the Idaho State Nurse Association continues to make a positive impact while preparing its members for the future of nursing.
