NOMINATING AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE
By Leah Stone, NEC Chair and Eastern Election Area Representative 2025-2026 Nominating and Elections Committee, necnorth @ nsna. org
Hello, future nurse leaders!
I am beyond delighted to serve on the Nominating and Elections Committee this year and to watch my peers grow as leaders. As we continue our journeys in nursing education, we develop skills in advocacy, communication, and decision-making – all of which are vital to leadership. As nursing students, we serve as leaders in many different capacities, which is why I encourage you to consider expanding your leadership skills by serving on the NSNA Board of Directors or Nominating and Elections Committee( NEC). Please join us at the NSNA Midyear Conference in Columbus, OH, to explore what it means to be an NSNA leader.
To run for the NSNA office, we offer two paths to becoming a leader – pre-slating and running from the floor. Pre-slating allows you to be added to the official ballot prior to the convention, while running from the floor occurs at the NSNA Annual Convention. While either choice can work well, I encourage you to review the benefits of pre-slating! For more details, please see the NSNA NEC webpage. Here, you can find resources detailing all positions on the Board of Directors and NEC, as well as information about the campaigning process. If you are interested in running, please request information for NSNA office here!
As future nurse leaders, we have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the profession by continuing to strive for excellence. I encourage you to consider running for NSNA office and would be happy to support you throughout the process.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Election Area Representative. We love connecting with you and are excited to guide you through your leadership journey. We hope to see you at the Midyear Conference in Columbus, OH!
