Beginning the Fall Semester with Purpose and Motivation
Dr. Shirley A. Quarles, EdD, RN, FAAN, President, Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc.( FNSNA)
As nursing students embark on their fall academic studies, it’ s an ideal time to reflect on both personal and professional goals, reignite passions, and embrace new opportunities. Staying motivated, setting realistic goals, and overcoming challenges are key strategies for intentional planning to achieve the ultimate goal— becoming and advancing as a professional nurse.
With the restructuring of the U. S. Department of Education and Health and Human Services, it’ s crucial for students to stay vigilant for funding resources as a proactive way to help financially support themselves during their nursing education journey. Securing financial assistance through scholarships, grants, loans, and other means will become increasingly competitive and challenging. Remember to submit timely and high-quality applications to various agencies that support higher education students, particularly, those that focus on nursing education. The Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc.( FNSNA) and the National Student Nurses’ Association( NSNA) are dedicated to providing financial and professional development opportunities through scholarships, and NSNA meetings. Stay informed about the latest opportunities and updates by frequently visiting their websites: www. fnsna. org and www. nsna. org.
Let this fall semester be more than just a fresh start for some or a continual launchpad for others. Instead, let it be an experience of continued growth, confidence, and success in your nursing career.
Sincerely,
Dr. Shirley A. Quarles, EdD, RN, FAAN President, Foundation of the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc.( FNSNA)
