BACK TO SCHOOL
STUDY TIPS !
Create a 7-14 day study plan that allows for a review of topics in each of your courses every day . This plan does not mean cramming for that time , but rather reviewing text , lecture , clinical scenarios , and practice questions to round out the exam preparation .
Life is already hard enough and the rigor of nursing school added in can make things overwhelming . Reach out to your peers , clinical and didactic faculty , and student support resources early in the semester to help develop a success plan .
Use a blocked calendar ( written or virtual ) to schedule time blocks for each of your activities during the semester . Be sure to include time to eat , sleep , shower , and drive times ! Lucas Farris , Faculty The University of Texas at Arlington , Arlington , TX
Color your notes , highlight them and draw diagrams to make them interesting as it helps with memorization . Read chapters or do modules before class to help you during class to grasp material and make notes so you ’ re ahead of class . Make flash cards ! Ana Carrillo Chamberlain University , Miramar , FL
Discover your learning style ! I took a simple , short online quiz and it ’ s been a game changer ! For example , I am primarily an auditory learner . I listen to lectures a second time after class on my commute home . I also record myself explaining difficult concepts and listening while getting ready in the morning . Every interaction with the material is beneficial . This boosted my GPA significantly ! So , if you ’ re looking for that magic bullet to lock in your learning , discover your learning style and use it for your benefit ! Cheneille Wilson , Student University of Akron , Akron , OH
