Alexis Ross North Carolina Central University Durham , NC
Hello NSNA members ! I am so thankful for the privilege to serve you all this year as a member of the Resolutions Committee . Hailing from Southern California , I embarked on a journey to pursue my bachelor ’ s degree in nursing from North Carolina Central University in Durham , NC . In my free time , you can find me surfing , doing art , or enjoying the great outdoors .
Much like many of you , my goal in becoming a nurse was to help as many people as possible . I hoped to gain a tangible skill I could use to make an impact on the lives of others . I ’ m exceedingly grateful that pursuing a career in nursing has opened many more doors than I ever could have imagined .
I am looking forward to collaborating with this committee to help develop resolutions that help us meet our goals as an organization . In doing so , we can focus our impact on the causes that mean the most to us — that is , causes that support values such as advocacy , care , and quality of education . I ’ m thrilled to use whatever skills I possess to ensure that this work is done well and can leave a meaningful impact for the next generation of nurse leaders . Through working as a team to articulate these resolutions concisely and in a way that allows a workable implementation , we can ensure that our principal aims as an organization are clearly defined . This allows the most exciting part of all to ensure carrying these resolutions out as the NSNA body . I am thankful to get to play a small part in what makes up NSNA . Looking forward to serving you all !
Audrey Smallman Case Western Reserve University Cleveland , OH
Hello NSNA Members ! It is an honor to serve on the NSNA Resolution Committee for the 2023-24 term . Currently , I am a third-year student at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland , OH pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a minor in Childhood Studies . In addition to this position , I serve as the Vice President of my school ’ s Undergraduate Student Nurses Association .
I was lucky enough to attend last year ’ s Convention in Nashville and felt inspired by the variety of important resolution topics brought to the House of Delegates . The resolution process allowed my SNA to explore issues that affect us locally in the clinical setting and bring them to the attention of all of you . My role serving on the resolution committee is to help you effectively communicate the issues most important to you so that delegates from nursing programs around the country can be aware of these topics in practice and help you advocate for change
Your membership in NSNA shows your commitment to the future of our profession . We are leaders and changemakers . I chose nursing as a major because of a desire to help , but I chose to BE a nurse because of the opportunity to KNOW my patients and support them when they are at their most vulnerable .
I look forward to working with many of you on your resolutions and meeting you in-person at the Annual Convention in Orlando !
