New Mexico State University Student Nurses ’ Association ( NMSU SNA ) Nursing students at New Mexico State University ( NMSU ) held an event titled “ Haircuts for Hope .” Students provided haircuts and shampoos to lowincome residents in Las Cruces , NM . SNA members also partnered with Casa de Pelegrinos Emergency Food Program and El Caldito Soup Kitchen to alleviate hunger in their community . Students have consistently spent their weekends on the front lines providing vaccinations . In addition , blood pressure and glucose screenings were conducted for homeless veterans at the Las Cruces Stand Down event . The NMSU SNA has done a fantastic job empowering students by helping the community ’ s most vulnerable . They plan to continue their philanthropic efforts with support from their university .
Northern Arizona University-Yuma Student Nurses ’ Association ( NAU-Yuma SNA ) The NAU-Yuma SNA has been an important contributor to the community via volunteer work at the Walk to End Alzheimer ’ s , a local food bank , and Amberly ’ s Place , which assists victims of abuse and sexual assault . They have held multiple fundraising events at Chipotle , Texas Roadhouse , and other restaurants . Plans have been made to work with Relay for Life in the spring 2022 semester .
Student Nurses ’ Association of Pennsylvania at Pennsylvania College ( SNAP PAC ) Members of the SNAP PAC held a “ Trunk or Treat ” event during fall 2021 . With over 20 cars in attendance at the school parking lot , Trunk or Treat became one of the SNAP PAC ’ s most significant events . Included in the festivities were yard games , a photo booth , pumpkin painting , apple cider , and a raffle . All proceeds benefited the Day of Smiles Foundation . Founders Jane and Steve McCartney lost their daughter Erin and son-in-law in a tragic car accident with an impaired driver . They were both in attendance and were very grateful for the SNAP PAC ’ s efforts .
University of Tennessee- Knoxville Student Nurses ’ Association ( SNA UTK ) This past October , nursing students at UTK began a new tradition by participating in their school ’ s homecoming events , which are typically only attended by members of Greek life . SNA members , along with students of all years , decorated a square of the main walkway at UTK at the “ Chalk Ped Walkway ” event . With the only goal of giving others the opportunity to learn more about the UTK School of Nursing and the SNA , members were surprised to learn that they had won the event ! They have received a trophy for their efforts and are very proud to have been able to gain exposure from the university .
SNA UTK members also take park in the “ Precious Prints ” program , which offers parents who have lost a newborn a silver pendant with their baby ’ s fingerprint . To raise money for the program , members host an annual “ Sprint for the Prints ” 5K . This year , they raised over $ 20,500 with 534 participants in attendance !
