get your face known . Running past the pre-slate deadline is a chance to display how well your time management is and how well you work with a limited timeframe . Regardless of whether you are pre-slated or running past the pre-slate deadline , you will be busy for the entire convention .
Campaigning and running for NSNA office will be different than any other time in the past . Innovation is AMAZING and this year each candidate will have their own candidate tile on the NSNA Annual Convention platform . Prior to convention , all candidates will have to submit their campaign videos with dedicated statements , professional resumes , and other pertinent information . During the convention , attendees will be able to view the NSNA candidates ’ individual tiles . This year we are going above and beyond and holding virtual “ Meet the Candidate ” sessions !
Below I have included a checklist that will be helpful to those that decide to run for office past the pre-slate deadline :
• A request for information about national office
• Complete the application that you receive .
• Submit all documents needed .
• Select a campaign manager .
• Select a campaign slogan .
• Come up with a digital campaign presentation .
• Practice your campaign speech and personalized recorded video statements .
• Read the NSNA Annual Review and Campaign Regulations .
The latest you can submit your application for running past the pre-slate deadline is March 29th by 5pm EST . Also — an important reminder — you cannot start campaigning until your name appears in the slate ! Once selected as a candidate , you will have access to the NSNA Annual Review which will help you with helpful information you need to know for convention , like planning for a campaign and sample questions you may be asked during your “ Meet the Candidates ” sessions . Make sure you and your campaign manager read the campaign regulations as to be sure what can and can ’ t be done . Remember we are the nurses of tomorrow , and NSNA needs that representation from you on the 2021-2022 NSNA Board of Directors and Nominating and Elections Committee .
If you have any questions or concerns about the elections process or anything else , please feel free to contact any member of the Nominating and Elections Committee . All four members of the NEC are here to help you with anything you might need . We are looking forward to a great Convention and exciting NSNA democratic election process unlike any other that has been seen . I am so excited to see and hear everyone — even if it is through a screen — in April and I hope we get to greet and talk to you all ! n
