Together We Lead , Together We Grow – NSNA Virtual 69th Annual Convention
Hello to all my fellow NSNA members ! My name is Jennifer Bustos , and I am the Nominating and Elections Committee ( NEC ) Southern Area Representative . I was happy to see that many people attended the NSNA Virtual 38th MidYear Conference in October 2020 . Although it was not possible to see you all in person during the MidYear Conference , the NEC is looking forward to working with you towards running for NSNA leadership positions .
The NSNA Virtual 69th Annual Convention will be live from April 5-10 , 2021 . NSNA continues to lead change nationally and this year , the Convention theme is direct evidence of this : Breaking Down Barriers . You will NOT be disappointed as NSNA will have everything you need , crave , and desire . You will experience nationally acclaimed speakers , great breakout sessions , and elections for national office . While the NSNA Convention will be packed with multiple sessions and it might feel overwhelming , don ’ t worry , the NEC is here to help you with everything you need to know about Convention . I encourage all members and potential NSNA candidates to go online to www . nsnaconvention . org and gather information on keynote speakers , program schedule , NSNA Awards , exhibitors , and student activity tiles . I would suggest looking at the website before the Convention starts and plan out that week for the activities you would like to be present for , so you won ’ t miss anything great that you may have wanted to go to . It will be an Annual Convention unlike any other ! And most importantly , we will be announcing the 2021-2020 NSNA elected officers .
If you are planning on running for national office , whether it be pre-slated or running past the pre-slate deadline , the convention will be particularly busy for you . However , the NEC is here to assist all candidates and will provide you with a detailed schedule with all the required events you need to attend . We promise you will have ample time to engage in exhilarating educational sessions and still have time to campaign throughout the week . Having said that , I do encourage you to rest when you can because even though you might not physically be at convention , you still have to make sure you plan everything out accordingly to attend and be at all the required events plus campaigning .
I would love to see many of you running for national office — it ’ s an amazing opportunity that you will never get to experience after you leave nursing school . You learn so much while networking with fellow NSNA members from across the nation and so much more . I ’ m pretty sure that by now you are thinking , “ it ’ s too late to run for office ; the pre-slate deadline has passed .” You do not need to worry — you still have time to run for office . Albeit , it will be busier for you , since those that are pre-slated do have the advantage of having their face and name known and can campaign before convention . Running past the pre-slate deadline requires you to get a lot of planning done before the actual convention and a lot of campaigning during convention to
