#Team Sergey Starkov, National Logistics Manager: “We perform many ‘invisible’ processes. For instance, we are responsible for execution of documents for imported cigarettes and now for our new product myblu, we are in charge of warehousing and shipping of all finished products and advertising materials, monitor updates of master data on products in SAP, daily form orders for Megapolis, simultaneously tracking whether they ‘fit’ into the approved sales plan, as well as check and correct the stocks of finished products at the Megapolis warehouses. At the end of a financial year communication related to fulfillment of the annual sales plan takes most of the time. Ensuring efficient interaction with Megapolis is most important for me in my work. Coordination of the sales plan and achievement of the company’s targets are always the top-priority tasks. Today we have a well-functioning mechanism for carrying out daily shipments and importing cigarettes and an excellent team of associates – this is my pride.” Your ideal weekend This is quite trivial – with my family in the countryside. Recommend a book to your colleagues I have recently read a textbook on logic for secondary school by Vinogradov and Kuzmin (Uchpedgiz 1954), and I think it can be useful for everyone. The logistics team had many new projects in financial year 2018: our colleagues were actively engaged in launching our new product myblu, and are now supervising Imperial Tobacco’s participation in a national tobacco products’ track & trace experiment. We have decided to throw light on our logisticians’ hard work and to speak about every one of them. Dmitry Shapovalov, Sales Supply Service Manager: “Work with the customs takes most of the time. Unfortunately, our customs legislation can be interpreted ambiguously, which often entails unforeseen consequences impeding business processes. Imported products are subject to customs clearance: payment of taxes and levies, preparation of permits and shipping documents – sometimes, this process is rather time-consuming. But financial year 2018 has given me something to be proud of: we have completed customs clearance of the first batch of myblu – an absolutely new product for us – not simply within the deadline, but even ahead of schedule. Working in the project team for launching myblu, I received an opportunity to develop from scratch the import and shipment process that is efficiently functioning and yielding good results for the company.” Your ideal weekend If I have time, I prefer cycling with my family or alone. Of course, weekends are associated with the country house and ‘shashlyk’. Recommend a book to your colleagues My favorite one is the Customs Code of the Russian Federation. Svetlana Malakhova, Distribution Coordinator, daily monitors operation of Imperial Tobacco’s local warehouse in Moscow: acceptance and shipment of in-store equipment and advertising materials, as well as imported finished products: “I am responsible for efficient interaction between the office and the warehouse and deal with various routine and unexpected events that occur daily and require, for instance, additional coordination with the Accounting Department or the management of the warehouse, or coordination of the delivery. This takes most of my working time. But actually, I do like helping to find solutions for complicated tasks.” Your ideal weekends They are still ahead of me. Recommend a book to your colleagues American Story by Anatoly Toss. The team of Dmitry Shapovalov and Svetlana Malakhova is responsible for import of finished products – cigarettes and myblu – and shipment of imported products and advertising materials, interaction with the state customs, as well as supply of excise marks to the factory.
