AMINA’ S STORY
Amina lives with her mother and six sisters in Hangar Daum village in Badakhshan province, Afghanistan. This remote, impoverished area is located far from any governmentrun schools, offering limited educational opportunities for children. With little money, the family lacked access to textbooks and other necessary learning materials. Instead of attending classes, Amina often collected garbage to help support the household.
All of that changed thanks to the opening of a CAIsponsored community-based school in her village, where Amina is now proudly enrolled as a first-year student. A curious learner with a diligent and industrious nature, Amina has been inspired to become a teacher herself so she can help improve the lives of other children in Afghanistan.
HERAT EARTHQUAKE AID CAMPAIGN UPDATE
Emergency assistance distributed for earthquake aid: $ 7,086
A special THANK YOU to the donors who generously assisted victims of the devastating October 2023 earthquakes in Afghanistan. After several 6.3 magnitude earthquakes hit Herat province causing significant destruction, CAI immediately responded with emergency aid.
Although CAI does not directly operate in this area, we felt compelled to lend a hand, as our immediate priority was to provide humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable in the community.
Your support made a profound difference during this critical time. In a few days, we raised $ 7,086 in donations, which allowed us to provide aid to 515 people, including 35 female health care workers who required assistance to carry out their duties, as well as 80 child-headed households not being served by other organizations.
