BEYOND THE CALL
Since entering the gates of Washington State Prison in 2008 as a Correctional Officer, Leotis Dixon, has set the
standard for higher achievements by serving as Tactical (TACT) Squad Commander and Assistant Commander. He has aided in the agency’s mission through his individual drive to be a quality performer and ensuring a safe and secure facility.
Currently, Officer Dixon is assigned as an Outside Detail Officer. Each morning he makes his rounds to check the site and ensure the safety of staff and offenders. On June 8, July 11, July 25 and September 25, he was able to interdict a significant amount of contraband from entering the facility.
The total contraband consisted of 1,934 grams of tobacco, 200 grams of suspected marijuana, 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 34 bundles of rolling papers, 21 magnets, 9 lighters, 3 tubes of super glue, 1 manicure set, 2 pair of tweezers, 4 pair of nail clippers, 13 saw blades, 1 pair of eyeglasses, 50 touch screen cellphones, 2 flip phones, 4 charger bases, 8 USB chargers, 45 pigtail chargers, 1 arm power-bank charger, 1 bottle of cologne, and 2 pairs of ear buds.
Officer Dixon understands the importance of his Correctional Officer duties and shows integrity in accomplishing the mission of the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC).
