The GDC Office of Professional Standards Canine
Unit provides support to facilities operations, as
well as local, state and federal law enforcement
partners. Their commitment to public safety
includes apprehending fugitives, locating missing
people, and detecting contraband, and they
answer the call no matter the time, weather or
risk.
So far in Fiscal Year 2020, the
GDC K9 Unit has confiscated
over 1,600 cell phones and
discovered 46.63 pounds
of drugs in state facilities
and assisted in locating 26
missing persons/fugitives.
