Lipsy prioritises minimilsing its environmental impacts by trying to use natural resources and reducing carbon activities. They want to improve energy efficiency and are trying to reduce large amounts of energy use in their buildings. They ensure that they recycle when appropriate. They have a goal of by 2020 to have reduced the amount of energy used and the amount of waste which is produced.
Lipsy has many key principles, some of which include:
* No forced labour meaning emplyment is freely chosen and nobody is made to work unwillingly.
*No child labour, they cant hire anyone under the age of 16 and they must have their national insurance number.
*Weekly, the normal amount of working hours should not go over 48 hours and employees must be paid for over time at the rate legally required.
*All staff are to be treated equally meaning no discrimination. The Lipsy code of practice vows that they recognise and respect cultural differences.
*Employees must be treated respectfully and with dignity. No employee will be subject to any physical, sexual, mental or any other form of abuse or harassment..
*Staffs wages need to meet or exceed the minimum wage for the age of the employee, this is because the wages need to provide at least the basic needs for the employee.
