wipe the oil off of it. Why do this
before checking the level? Because it may not show you the
correct level until you dip it the
2nd time.
So now, dip the stick and check
You can fill the oil from the oil
cap whether the engine is hot or
cold, but if you're not looking to
burn the skin off your fingers, I
recommend doing it while it's
cold. I could tell you about all
the different oil types, but for
now I will say to use the type
your car's manufacturer recommends. Simply attach a funnel,
and pour away!
Check your anti-freeze: This is
another important one. Not only
does it keep your engine from
freezing in cold weather, but it
the level. If the oil is anywhere
between Full and Add a Quart
(or “minimum”), you're good to
go! If it's on Add a Quart, then
this is where the oil cap comes
in.
