“THINK OF A MURDER LIKE ANNI DEWANI'S. IMAGINE THE GREASING T H AT W E N T O N THERE..." Time and again the law has proven that if you have enough to grease a few palms then you can get away with anything. Money really is a problem solver when it comes to the laws that govern a country. When you think of Oscar Pistorious, Jacob Zuma, OJ Simpson, and Ryan Levin, it makes sense to accept that rich people can manipulate the system. The problem with this then becomes re-offending, which will more likely to occur than reformation. And the sad thing is that the media has also turned a blind eye to this trend and, instead, focus on other copy-selling topics such as celebrities. The reality is that without our help, combating bribery is like drawing blood from a stone. We need to understand our rights and to identitfy when an officer is taking chances. It may seem like an overly optimistic approach, but we have to start somewhere if we're to elimate corruption. By Karabo Motsoai 17 IMBO/ ISSUE 32/ '14
