Recently, with reduction in staffing and a high call out season, the Diagnostic OR team found themselves short on staffing. The OR coordinator went out on a limb and called Peds to see if someone could do an intraoperative film in Zayed 4. Without hesitation, Alyssa Webster and Stephanie Norford, jumped into action agreed to help. They quickly got a portable machine and donned their OR bunny suits to make their way into the OR. Just as their manager was walking by, they were able to grab a quick picture (attached). Alyssa and Stephanie always go above and beyond their job duties, and do so with a positive, bubbly attitude. Thanks to their quick action, the child wasn’t held under anesthesia for a longer time than necessary.
The OR team was so appreciative of their help, they wrote the following and shared with the teams:
“We wanted to send out a big thank you to the Peds department for taking care of a portable abdomen in the OR for us on Thursday while we were short staffed and running behind on cases. Was really appreciated and helped us get caught up with our other exams.” - OR Coordinator, Travis Pappas
“Thank you Alyssa and Stephanie for helping out in the OR yesterday. Your help really made a difference and we appreciate your willingness to jump in without hesitation. That’s great teamwork!! Thank you!” – OR Chief Tech, Becky LaFontaine
