Improvements include eliminating unnecessary pre-op labs (Choosing Wisely), scheduling redesign, transparency, meeting with various stakeholders, and teaming up for “pre-game” and “post-game” collaboration.

How does it work?

A daily EPIC data extract with our outpatient schedule is sent to our data base (via sftp).

In real time, each patient row changes color as the scheduled start time passes. Color-coding includes green (with happy face), yellow, orange, and red.

The dashboard is accessible via web link and is prominently displayed on flat screens throughout the department.
