underground tunnel , have showcased BluVein ’ s advanced vision system , which reliably detects the rail ’ s proximity and enables repeated ’, successful mechanical connections while the vehicle is in motion , the company says . These successful trials are laying the foundation for full-scale implementation .
Epiroc ’ s battery-converted Minetruck MT42 is currently being adapted for BluVein ’ s technology , with plans to start demonstrating dynamic charging at the BluVein Proving Grounds in Queensland , Australia , shortly .
“ In the coming months , BluVein will advance to the third-generation pre-production prototype , aimed at the first full-scale mine truck installation by early 2025 ,” Oliver added . “ This represents a critical step forward in deploying our technology and transforming mining operations .”
In addition to progress at the Proving Grounds , BluVein has initiated static environmental underground testing at a live mine site in Australia . This testing further validates the technology ’ s robustness and effectiveness in real-world mining conditions , bringing BluVein closer to its goal of making mining cleaner and more efficient , BluVein concluded .
It ’ s hard not to see Universal Field Robot ’ s ( UFR ) new approach – Bring Your Own Vehicle ( BYOV ) – playing a part in this zero carbon mine of the future .
The company , which has signed an agreement to be acquired by Sandvik , says this model is rapidly becoming the most cost-effective and sustainable method for automating equipment in the mining industry .
Under the BYOV model , miners don ’ t need to retire their existing machines ; instead they can extend the life of their fleet by engaging a robotics company such as UFR .
UFR applies its advanced autonomy package to any OEM platform , developing robotic arms or capabilities tailored to specific applications . This ensures the upgraded machine seamlessly integrates with the mine ’ s existing communications network , safety systems and other critical infrastructure .
