MINE LIGHTING prevent infringements , create secure spaces within which pedestrians and machinery can work cohesively , and ultimately – save lives . By creating a visible barrier of light , the FHOSS Halo Exclusion system effectively warns pedestrians of potential danger zones , allowing them to stay at a safe distance from moving vehicles and equipment .”
While the safety lights are effective on a variety of heavy machinery , they can also be used on stationary objects for a wide range of uses . “ Our red / green switchable variant is perfect for personnel walkways across dangerous areas , and uses the universal language of safety .”
The Halo Exclusion lighting uses powerful LED lighting to create a visual deterrent around a vehicle or danger area . The system can be operated manually from a switch , or automatically with light sensors . Straight line or arc shaped units and different colour options enable a variety of configurations that can provide a solution to most types or vehicle or area . When deployed on a vehicle the FHOSS Halo light units are hard wired , draw little power and have a lifespan of 50,000 + hours . The durable cast alloy casing provides a high level of protection to the unit , enabling them to withstand mining ’ s inhospitable environments .
FHOSS Halo Exclusion zone lighting is also used in mineral processing plants and logistics centres where highly visual directional signage is required . Illuminated lighting negates the need for painted lines – reducing maintenance costs and critical downtime as well as providing the flexibility to move / add more zoned areas when needed .
Effective lighting from TYRI for all mining situations
Providing light for the mining sector can be very challenging . The harsh conditions both under and over ground mean lighting needs to be robust and adaptive . Underground , glare from the materials being mined , such as chalk , can cause fatigue quickly for the operator . Overground , reflections from the machine buckets can blind the operator .
TYRI , headquartered in Gothenburg , Sweden states : “ Choosing the correct colour rendering index ( CRI ) value for the light can help address the issues of glare and improve contrast in materials being mined . For example , a mint green light with a special CRI has been shown to reduce fatigue in the operator . In a perfect world , you would like to be able to switch the colour temperature according to the conditions ; warmer light combined with less luminance when there is high reflections from materials , and colder light providing considerably higher luminance levels above ground where there are less reflections but a need for high level of light around the machine .
These features are available with the TYRI INTELLilight .”
This system allows you to adjust both the colour temperature range , from 2,700K ( halogen ) to 6,500K ( sunlight ), as well as the illumination level between 0-100 %. “ Additionally , you are also able to dim any individual light regardless of the light next to it , from 0 % to 100 % and add a light luminance sensor that reacts to glare and dim lights automatically . This is a very effective solution for machines with multiple operators as you can personalise your settings . With TYRI INTELLilight it is possible to adjust the lights according to each operator ’ s need , then save the preferences and always have the lights working in the most effective way for you without any reprogramming between operator changeovers . This is programmed via the INTELLilight App for smartphone / tablet , alternatively it can be built into the machine using the TYRI Gateway which communicates via CAN-bus and added to the machine ’ s operator interface as a factory option .”
When the mining customer works with TYRI to develop lighting for a machine , it does the light simulations based on the machine design . “ We spend a lot of time on light simulations in order to get a smooth light distribution with a uniform illumination level in the work area for the machine in question . We have the widest range of light distribution lenses for each work light model , and if you have a specific need for your machine , we will develop a customised lens for you .”
Dialight backs up LED High Bay with battery option
Early on in 2024 , Dialight launched an all-new battery backup model of its iconic LED High Bay .
With TYRI INTELLilight it is possible to adjust the lights according to each operator ’ s need , then save the preferences
These state-of-the-art fixtures now offer even greater peace of mind for enhanced safety in harsh industrial environments , such as mineral processing plants and concentrators .
Dialight : “ Proper lighting is one of the most important ways to ensure safety for workers in harsh and hazardous industrial work sites . These applications are often hampered by extreme conditions , including : dust , debris , high temperatures , vibration , and power outages . In particular , power outages pose a significant safety risk by instantly plunging areas into darkness . It is extremely important that workers remain safe and have adequate egress lighting to safely exit a potentially dangerous area . Dialight ’ s solution ensures that the fixture will stay illuminated throughout emergency loss of power .”
“ Since 2009 the Dialight High Bay has been the flagship of our Solid State Lighting division ,” said Dialight CEO Fariyal Khanbabi . “ Over the years , this fixture has received numerous awards for advancements in energy efficiency , longevity , and specialised protections for harsh industrial environments .
