NARROW VEIN AND LOW PROFILE MINING
The ADS also supports multi-rig supervision by a single operator, significantly boosting productivity. Additionally, the system delivers a more accurate face, floor, roof and sidewall geometry, minimising scaling and facilitating easier bolting and tramming.
For low-profile, room-and-pillar operations, the Face Master 1.7 and Roof Master 1.7 are designed to operate in excavations as low as 1.9 m. Machines operating in low headings, where ventilation can be a challenge – especially those powered by diesel engines – must meet the latest standards for exhaust fume cleanliness. That’ s why Mine Master rigs are built with EU Stage V engines.
The machines are available in different configurations to meet market demands, in line with the company’ s policy of‘ rigs for your needs’, it added.
The Face Master 1.7K, specifically designed for major Poland-based miner KGHM, sets a new standard in operator comfort and productivity with its spacious, air-conditioned cab that offers good visibility and ergonomic design, Mine Master claims.
For soft-rock applications, the Face Master 1.7R has an optimised rotary drilling system, delivering precision and efficiency where it’ s needed most. The Face Master 1.7D, meanwhile, brings full autonomy to underground operations, powered entirely by a diesel engine – eliminating
the need for connection to the mine’ s electric grid and enhancing flexibility across mine sites.
Complementing these drilling solutions is the Roof Master 1.7K, a collaborative development with J. H. Fletcher, featuring a“ Man-in-Position” system that enables single-operator bolting. This bolter accommodates both mechanical and resin bolts in lengths of 1.6 m, 1.8 m and 2.6 m.
The latest addition, the Roof Master 1.7KA, also designed in co-operation with J. H. Fletcher, includes an automatic drilling mast for effective bolting, the companies claim. It can install 1.8- m bolts in galleries ranging from 2.2 m to 4.5 m height and 1.6-m bolts in galleries from 2 m to 4.5 m.“ The new machine offers numerous benefits to customers in the form of greatly improved operator safety and comfort whilst improving consumable life during drilling,” Mine Master says.“ Intuitive control layouts also make operation simpler and will aid in training requirements needed for new operators.”
For operations in extremely tight spaces, the Face Master 2.1 is a versatile option. Its compact width of 1,350 mm allows for high productivity in face drilling and longhole drilling applications, featuring a quick reset of the feeder position and enhanced accuracy for vein deposit drilling.
To reduce operational costs, enhance miner safety and improve sustainability, Mine Master has introduced low-profile, battery-powered drill rigs and bolters. The Face Master 1.7KE and Roof Master 1.8KE are built on a unified chassis for streamlined maintenance and powered by onboard 120 kWh batteries. These models provide optimal solutions for low-profile operations where ventilation costs and worker safety are primary concerns, the company states.
Mine Master offers custom auxiliary solutions with the SWOI 1.4 and SWOI 1.7 machines, designed to position temporary hydraulic props for additional roof support in confined spaces. These machines use hydraulic hoses to pump an emulsion mixture, allowing operators to adjust the prop height efficiently. Quick-release valves facilitate easy removal once support is no longer required, while an optional bolt cutter further enhances operational safety by enabling controlled roof collapse, it says.
Completing Mine Master’ s low-profile range is the RS 2.0 SB, a versatile electric- / dieselpowered twin boom rig designed for scaling and rock breaking. It is equipped with a rock breaker, an inspection service basket and an adjustable grader blade for roadway clearing and levelling. The RS 2.0 SB features remote control capabilities for tramming, boom adjustments and breaker functions, ensuring safe and efficient ground control operations. Safety is further enhanced with FOPS-compliant inspection basket and laser curtain interlocks for operator and crew protection.
