Paus addresses explosives utility
In underground mining, and in general, time is a very important subject – saving money goes along with it. Mines worldwide have to juggle timings with scheduling of blasts and transportation of explosives. Utility vehicles from Paus are designed to give the right level of support. With its Universa 50-2, Paus says it designed a carrier vehicle for many different requirements. Regarding explosive chargers the offering includes two types of emulsion carrier and one for ANFO. The emulsion carriers are made both for gallery development with a boom / basket at the rear and for production with a manipulator. The carrier vehicles are specially made for emulsion units and are suited to different emulsion set-ups / constructions from providers and manufacturers. Customised solutions can be added as supplements like cable drums and power packs, hose-pushers and drums, compressors and working platforms.
For mining more conventionally with drill and blast operations the commonly used explosive still is ANFO.“ The limitation of charging time and reduction of explosive transportation is one of the goals for optimising this work flow to be more productive and to save production costs.” The idea of the Paus ANFO charging concept is to combine transportation and charging of ANFO in one machine to extend charging capacity for one full drilling pattern. This concept developed
by Paus is based on the well-known Universa 50- 2. The Universa is equipped with an ANFO storage platform with a maximum capacity of up to 120 ANFO bags( each bag 22 kg), a 500 litre ANFO vessel, rotary vane compressor and a telescopic platform in the rear part of the machine to cover the full drilling pattern with fixed carrier positioning.
The Universa 50-2 can also be equipped with a working platform which permits working heights over 7 m to cover approximately 40 m ² faces. All machines implement extended safety features.
The Universa 50-2 also has its hydraulic quick changing system to switch cassettes as needed with a choice from options of a scissor platform, cement mixer and sprayer, tyre handler, diesel generator, loading platform and of course individual solutions if requested. An experienced operator can accomplish the changing procedure within a maximum of 5-10 minutes.
