costs, reduced ventilation requirements and improved health and safety for workers.”
The Liftmaster 600EB has the same dimensions as the company’ s standard scissor‐lift and all of the features. The scissor‐lift has an average charging time of 1 hour and 4 to 5 hour average operating time between charges; incorporates a battery management system( BMS); and a 260 amp LiFePO 4 battery pack.
“ When it comes to the harsh conditions of hard rock mining, the LiFePO 4 battery technology offers the greatest combination of performance, safety, cost, reliability and environmental characteristics, is tolerant to abuse, extremely stable in overcharge or short circuit conditions, is able to withstand high temperatures without decomposing, is not prone to thermal runaway, will not burn, does not contain heavy metals, does not exhibit‘ memory effect’, has an excellent shelf life, a long cycle life, is maintenance free, has maximum power available until fully discharged( no‘ voltage sag’), and can be safely rapidly recharged.”
“ When compared to their traditional diesel counterparts battery, technology offers a lower life cycle cost( LCC), is safer to operate, and performs better” says Gustavo Portalier, Chief Operations Officer at RDH.“ When the diesel engine is eliminated you also eliminate associated maintenance, oil changes, filters, and fuel costs. The cost of charging a battery is about 20 % of the cost to fill up the tank with diesel. Add in the costs saved by the reduction in ventilation requirements and the health and safety benefits and mines can achieve significant savings.” Features include: n 6,000 lbs( 2,722 kg) lifting capacity n Lower life cycle cost( LLC), safer to operate, performs better n Rear telescopic outrigger jacks with side extension ensure stability during platform deployment n Deck with dual side shift for maximum coverage and less set‐up time n Various deck size and lift height options n Comfortable, high visibility operators compartment with passenger seating RDH says its engineering team continues to further develop its diesel and battery powered mobile mining equipment line and can offer battery powered equipment options for any of their diesel counterparts.
Marcotte Mining also continues to push the boundaries of innovation with the development of an ultra-high scissor lift that exceeds standard underground capabilities. Designed to provide a safe work platform for installation of services in tunnel headings, the UHL6000 Ultra High Lift Carrier reaches heights of 20 ft and was launched in 2016.
Marcotte Mining’ s“ in-house made solution” was in response to a client’ s special request. From initial consultation, to design, build and delivery, the entire process took an impressive 10 weeks.
“ Throughout the designing and manufacturing process, any and all input from us on the unit was met with open arms and enthusiasm by Marcotte Mining”, said Kevin Burkholder, Equipment Manager at Cementation.“ The entire Marcotte staff from Shop Personnel to Management were great to deal with and open to any suggestions. The unit was delivered on time, and met all expectations.”
Special safety features incorporated into the UHL6000 include outrigger jacks for added stability, an enhanced fire suppression system, side shift feature deck, and refined vertical and horizontal capabilities.
Offering a midsized option
Minecat has had a great deal of success at providing solutions to the mining industry and in order to keep up with industry demands it has introduced a new addition to its mining utility product line. The CF240 is described as a“ midsized” mining utility vehicle featuring a

The Minecat CF240 is described as a“ midsized” mining utility vehicle featuring a rigid frame,“ cab forward” design and 4 wheel steering
rigid frame,“ cab forward” design and 4 wheel steering. Minecat says it saw the need for this type of vehicle platform when configuration requirements started to exceed the size and weight capacity of their current flagship; the MC100. However customers still wanted a vehicle that was smaller and more manoeuverable than a full-sized articulated carrier.
“ Just like all other Minecat products this vehicle is designed as a platform that is adaptable to multiple configurations. It can be built as a scissor carrier, personnel carrier, ANFO or emulsion loader with aerial boom, crane truck, flatbed truck, and the list goes on. The CF240 is extremely manoeuverable and has a very tight turning radius thanks to its 4-wheel steering system. The rigid frame and cab forward design allows us to offer a full-size work platform at the back even though the overall length of the machine is shorter than similarly equipped vehicles with articulated steering.”
The cab is extremely roomy and is ergonomically laid out. It features ROPS / FOPS Level II, air suspension seats and noise suppressing insulation. All features help to provide the best protection and comfort possible for the people inside.“ Part of the mandate was to design a machine that would not get in the way of production machines while travelling on ramps. Depending on the configuration; the CF240 could very well be the fastest machine of its kind achieving up to 20 km / h travelling up a 15 % grade.”
with the multi-purpose, highly manoeuvrable, low maintenance utility.
