Kaishan’s main products for underground include
the KJ range of fully hydraulic jumbos; the KM
range of fully hydraulic bolters; and the KS range
of fully hydraulic long hole jumbos.
The state-owned PH mine in Hubei province
was limited by the lack of a ‘thin ore body’
drilling jumbo during its conversion to
mechanisation. After having tried Kaishan’s
KJ212 jumbo, which is specifically designed for
thin ore body mines for three months, the
company was very satisfied with its performance
and reliability. In all, 15 jumbos of the same type
were sold in one year. KJ212’s minimum working
height is 1.8m, and it is the first domestically
made low profile hydraulic jumbo in China. It
uses a Montabert HC50 or HC109 with LxWxH of
11,160 mm x 2,000 mm x 1,465 mm.
In a bid in Kazakhstan for the construction of a
tunnel for a hydroelectric dam, amongst many
well known global brands, the customer chose
the KJ311 from Kaishan. The KJ311 is a hydraulic
top hammer drilling rig designed for a 12-35 m 2
cross section in underground mining. “A robust
universal drilling boom creates ideal face drilling
coverage. Automatic parallelism and 360° roll-
over enable easy, fast and accurate positioning
for face drilling, sideways drilling and bolthole
drilling. The configuration of components allows
for the operator to have a clear view when drilling
and tramming. A powerful and well balanced 4-
wheel drive chassis lets the tunnelling drilling rig
move through limited spaces and on tough
terrain in mines. A dual circuit service brake and
enclosed multi-disc parking/emergency brake
ensure safety in tramming and on slopes. A field
proven high frequency hydraulic drifter delivers
high performance. A trapezoidal percussion
piston optimises shockwave transfer efficiency,
so the drill can penetrate deeper while lowering
the cost of replacement parts. The operator cab
is safe and comfortable. Many automatic features
simplify drilling control so miners can focus on
fast and accurate drilling. All service points of the
hydraulic drifting jumbo are easily accessible,
simplifying routine maintenance.”

Zhangjiakou Xuanhua Huatai Mining &
Metallurgical Machinery Co Ltd (Huatai Mining),
is name after the headquarters location city
name of Zhangjiakou and the Xuanhua district
name. It is one the first companies in China
dedicated to hydraulic drilling jumbos. During its
history, according to market requirements, it has
developed hydraulic drilling jumbos, long hole
jumbos, bolting machines, scaling machines,
gallery repair machines and shaft drilling
products. The company says it is known for its
