ORE SORTING AND GRAVITY_proof 28/04/2016 12:03 Page 3 ORE SORTING AND GRAVITY I2Mine project contact, summarises the results: “The case study shows that, by implementing TOMRA´s sorting solution, 12% less mass needs to be moved and therefore less mass is trucked to the Boliden concentrator. This directly reduces energy consumption and carbon emissions for both grinding and transportation – a significant contribution to the I2Mine objectives and for the deep underground mine of the future.” Standard and X-ray images of the particles containing Zn-Pb ore (red and yellow) fed through the Comex CXR1000 sorter project were recently presented at New Boliden, Sweden. TOMRA Sorting Mining is contributing to the concept of an invisible, zeroimpact mine where the focus is on the development of technologies suitable for deep mining activities. During November last year, the fourth year of the EU-funded I2Mine project was marked by a demonstration day when there was an opportunity to learn about project results and view the testing of a prototype used to process bulk ore samples. Working within the I2Mine project, TOMRA has Chromite and uranium Christopher Robben, Business Development Manager TOMRA Sorting Mining and TOMRA’s Multotec’s pipe launders are well known in mineral sands and iron ore where the PVC pipe launders have proved their worth in arduous applications for many years, significantly outperforming their steel The TOMRA demonstration plant at Boliden developed and built a prototype machine described as an ‘underground mineral sorter’. This facility has been designed to withstand the robust demands of underground mining conditions while operating at a high capacity-tovolume ratio, and has successfully proven its ability to meet those requirements. WORLD´S MOST MOBILE MATERIAL PROCESSOR www.allumining.net THE WORLDS LARGEST PROCESSING BUCKET DESIGNED FOR MINING Crush or screen soft rock, minerals and lumped & frozen ores with the ALLU M Series bucket. Iron ore, olivine, coal, gypsum, oil shale, phosphate, dolomite, bauxite, zinc etc. Process quality material and simultaneous loading in One Step, and never transport the unwanted waste rock from its original location. ALLU M Series units efficiently separates hard waste rock from the ore also when used as a crusher, achieving up to 600 t/hour capacity.
