consideration. The issue is not so much a lack
of standards but rather a way of handling the
interoperability between the standards. One
needs to understand the different layers of
interoperability for this to work.
Another area needing consideration is the
number of standards that exists within the
logistics domain based on industry segment,
mode of transport and continent.
For example, there are UN standards such as
the UN EDIFACT, the ANSI X12 standard and
standards specific to mode of transport (i.e.,
