Most of us, if
asked the
question
“Are you a confident
person?” would
answer in the negative.
This is because we
find ourselves with
doubt, questions, and
uncertainties, surely
these qualities are not
indicative of a confident
person! Newsflash! It
is a common human
experience to feel
periods of self-doubt,
to feel insufficient at
times, to question, to
feel insecurities and
periods of uncertainty.
This does not make us
any less, in fact, these
qualities help us find
purpose and meaning in
our lives.
The world has sold us
the idea that confidence
is a genetic trait that
one must possess to be
successful or destined
for greatness and most
of us, unfortunately,
buy into this idea. It
makes us believe that
if we do not possess
that bold outward
confidence that so
many ‘successful’
people have then we
aren’t confident, nor do
we possess the qualities
to be successful. That
couldn’t be further
from the truth, Islam
is a religion that has
been perfected and
quite often all it takes is
putting a bit of thought
and perspective into an
idea/question, to find
clarity or answers.
Confidence is not builtin,
it isn’t for some and
not for others, it is a
trait to be honed, to
be sculpted, and to be
manifested in the right
environment and under
the right circumstances.
Confidence can
manifest in different
ways and at different
levels in each human
being. It can be
positive and it can
also be negative, it
may not always be the
answer, at least not
on its own, in fact, it
can sometimes be the
