• Decide to put time and effort to work on a reciprocal code of conduct with your suppliers and make sure their contractors also abide by it. Supply chains are complicated, and the risk of incurring in human rights violations is high no matter how close or far they might happen. If you have one already, ensure it is enforced. If you do not, developing one will send the right message.
• Reducing carbon emissions and recycling is not enough to become a sustainable business. Equal pay, life and work balance, diversity and fighting modern slavery, among others, are equally important.
• Adding a leave to your logo or turning it green won’t cut it. Making inaccurate claims about your sustainability credentials will not either. Greenwashing does not help to get ahead of your competitors or gain new clients, and it is a huge reputational risk. On top of those, it is a lie.
