Finance & operations
Financial leaders with experience delivering growth are , naturally , highly prized . Salary rates for CFOs have risen substantially . Gaming employers are increasingly willing to recruit finance talent from out of industry . However , it is HR teams that have enjoyed the biggest salary growth this year . Employers have recognised the critical value of ‘ people-leaders ’ in gaming ’ s critically talent-short market . HR will also play a key role in uniting our increasingly decentralised and remote teams . Kerry Gillitt

Marketing
The incessant pressure to differentiate brands and reinvigorate players is driving up demand for marketing talent . Data-oriented professionals are particularly in vogue . Employers expect a high degree of statistical literacy from those applying for marketing leadership roles . Content expertise is in high demand too , with specialists finally enjoying the pay rates to match their importance within acquisition and retention . Marketing candidates heavily favour remote job roles , and employers ’ increasing flexibility on this has broadened accessibility to talent . As salaries rise , though , attention is increasingly likely to fall on automation ; can smarter tech achieve the same goals more affordably ? Gareth Mulley

Tech
Tech is the frontline of the talent shortage . Every gaming employer is suffering from a shortage of tech talent and many are suffering badly . Tech candidates are inundated with job offers . Employers must be prepared to pay for talent , but successful recruitment requires more than money . Tech specialists want to work within a thriving team , with the latest tech , and to contribute to genuine success . Recruitment processes must be fast and engaging , something very few currently achieve . Pay rates in tech are increasingly standardised across borders . Tech skills and experience command a premium , regardless of location . Candidates expect to be paid for what they can deliver , regardless of where they ’ re based . This standardisation has rendered many on-site roles practically unfillable . The practise of ‘ offshoring ’ tech work as a cost-saving measure is also increasingly unviable . With globally dispersed tech teams , many companies now run payroll through centralised platforms to avoid regional complexities . Tech specialists are also finding it increasingly lucrative and straightforward to work on a contract basis . Unsurprisingly , day rates are also rising fast . Robert Gray
