Collecting and processing huge quantities of valuable data is easier than ever . Technical challenges still exist , but creativity and craft is required to find signal in the noise . Demand for talent has therefore accelerated at record rates . Candidates with statistical skillsets – ideally furnished with a maths or computer science degree , or gaming experience – are snapped up . Companies are incorporating the three lines of defence model much earlier on in their life cycle , leading to data protection , MLRO and compliance being split into separate positions . Salaries and benefits play a huge part in incentivising professionals to move role . Employers ’ other options – which are increasingly necessary – include upskilling internal staff , employing on a remote basis , or seeking candidates from other highly regulated industries . Language skills remain key to commanding favourable salaries in customer services , with newly regulated markets driving demand . This year Danish and Japanese language skills are particularly sought after . Spanish , French and Portuguese representatives continue to enjoy their pick of opportunities too . Industry experience and skills are critical for those with urgent requirements , though many employers run highly successful training programmes for new recruits .
