“ We need to execute further with KaFe Rocks and then we might look at further deals . But it is a very interesting market for M & A . A lot is happening ”
JONAS WARRER , GIG MEDIA
Warrer noted that GiG Media had had a mixed experience from the latest search engine manoeuvrings .
“ Some of our websites were impacted negatively while others benefitted ,” he pointed out . “ It was net positive .”
Specifically , noting that AskGamblers had been one winner from the Google update , Warrer said the company ’ s plans for that product now included the launch of sports ahead of the Euros and the Cope America . “ We are only scratching the surface of what we can do ,” he added .
One aspect new to the presentation was some detail on the revenue distribution across the GiG Media ecosystem . The company said that revenue from outside the top five sites grew at 46 % YoY and 21 % QoQ and now contributed 66 % of quarterly revenue .
PAID IN QUESTION
Still , one element of interest was the decline in the number of FTDs coming to GiG through the paid media channel versus the SEO publishing channel . Warrer said the drop was about where GiG was focusing its efforts with a shift to higher value markets as opposed to “ pure market expansion ”.
He said : “ This is why we will see a drop in paid media ,” adding that one of the core strategies of diversification of markets , customers and websites “ should drive more revenue ”.
On the partner mix , he noted the company had made a “ substantial leap forward ” in terms of new partners , pointing to data showing that the number of operator partners that now generated more that € 10k for the quarter had grown by 72 %.
MORE DEALS
Once GiG Media is freed from its platform business tie-up and has digested the KaFe Rocks deal , Warrer suggested that more M & A would be “ very interesting ”.
“ The trick is to do acquisitions with strategic fit and then there is the timing element ,” he said .
“ We need to execute further with KaFe Rocks and then we might look at further deals . But it is a very interesting market for M & A . A lot is happening .”
