High Voltage Laboratory
“The newest addi on to the Department”
T
he Department of Electrical & Electronic
Engineering provides basic courses to all
engineering undergraduates on the
principles of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering to a depth appropriate to the
generalist, and advanced courses to the
specialist student in the areas of communica on
and informa on engineering, power energy systems and high voltage
engineering, electronics and instrumenta on engineering and control
robo cs and automa on engineering. High Voltage Tes ng courses
are offered to both undergraduate and postgraduate students to gain
knowledge on high voltage engineering.
As part of the Department of Electrical and Electronic
Engineering, providing educa on is one of the key roles of the High
Voltage Laboratory by suppor ng masters courses in the field of high
voltage engineering, hos ng masters thesis projects and suppor ng
Ph.D. research projects. The new high voltage laboratory, 'PROF.
WILFRED .P. JAYASEKARA HIGH VOLTAGE LABORATORY' is powered by
the latest technology as a valuable asset for the the whole country
and is considered to be the best high-tech laboratory in Sri Lanka.The
opening ceremony was held at the Faculty of Engineering, University
of Peradeniya on 23rd February, 2019.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Vidya Jothi
Prof. K.K.Y.W. Perera, the chief guest, Chancellor of the University of
Moratuwa, Prof. Upul B. Dissanayake, Vice Chancellor of the
University of Peradeniya, Prof. Gamunu Herath, Dean of the Faculty
of Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Prof. Manjula Fernando,
Head of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
Faculty of Engineering, University of Peradeniya and many more
dis nguished guests. This venture was sponsored by LTL Holdings
(Pvt) Ltd, Ceylex Engineering (Pvt) Ltd, and Pera E82 Engineers
Associa on.
