tudying the evolu on of any area of science or
technology will not only s mulate your natural
curiosity, it will also give you a deeper
understanding of the main achievements in that area,
make you aware of the exis ng trends, and help you to
evaluate the prospects of speciļ¬c developments.
Computer networks emerged rela vely recently.
They have inherited many useful proper es from their
predecessors, namely, older and more widely adopted
telephone networks. This is not surprising since both
computers and telephones are universal instruments of
communica on. However, computer networks have
brought something new into the world of communica on.
Networking of devices is growing at a steadily increasing
rate.
A future engineer should be equipped with a thorough knowledge of
networking. Suppor ng that goal, a talk on 'Old Genera on to Next
genera on To So ware Genera on Networks' was conducted on 30th
May 2018, at the DEEE seminar room, from 4.30 p.m. onwards.
It was organized by the Industrial Applica on Society (IAS, IEEE) of
University of Peradeniya. The talk was voluntarily done by Eng. Anuradha
Udunuwara, an experienced professional Engineer at Sri Lanka Telecom
and an alumnus of the faculty.
