G
iven that buildings are present in
practically all activities produced
by development, they are essential elements that allow one to appreciate the
economy’s vitality, perhaps more so than
any other. It is a very generalized practice to consider history via the basic perspective of political and military events.
Yet, the history of economic development, and of civilization, itself, is re-
flected in other facts, among which a
principal one is constructions (buildings). Their development ever since the
twentieth century cannot be compared
with prior ages, in part because of population growth, but also due to the creation of new materials like cement and its
derivatives. Even if they were discovered in the nineteenth century, their use
became generalized in the twentieth.
