he emerged thus: from the sea
resounding,

Sent by the mystical Johns, mercy,
With the triumphant haloes of its crown,

Close to Antilla town,

Three men on their knees were down,

The redemptive
anointed;

For salvation imploring,

That sudden apparition was:

On a small boat, wildly rocking.

In the frightful storm an anchor.
