icreate Africa. www.icreateafrica.com “The iCreate Skill Fest 2018 hits our purpose at Bosch of inventing lives and making lives easier. I see a lot of excitement; young dynamic people are trying to drive things forward and that’s why we are glad to partner for good things to come out of this.” Mr. Frank Diermann, Country Business Director, Bosch Power Tools Division, Robert Bosch Nigeria Ltd. “iCreate Skill Competition is tough. I am learning new things, I am tasking myself past my normal limit and doing things I normally couldn’t believe I could do. It is challenging but it’s great. I am in for the experience to establish myself and whatever I am gaining I am going to use it to create my own graphic design studio” “I hope this is going to contribute to a change in mindset. There is dignity in labour. It’s not so much about what you studied or which school you went to but most importantly what you are able to do with the training and education that you have acquired. Certificates do not feed people, it is the skills that you have that can help you become employable, create work and earn a living. Skill is the 21st century currency, it is the skills that matter. Be the best barber you can be, be the best tiler you can be, be the best coder you can be, be the best builder you can be, be the best furniture maker you can be. It’s up to you.” Frank Nweke Jr., Chairman iCreate Africa Anyamkpa Dumebi, Contestant in Graphic Design category “This is exactly what we need in this country. Seeing the digital skills and robotics competition shows that our youth can actually build drones which is used by fast-developing countries to modernize their society. This gives me the inspiration that there is nothing we cannot achieve in Africa. Our government should partner with the organizers and tap into their ideas, and even take it to secondary schools.” Mr Chinedu David, visitor “I congratulate the whole team for the wonderful delivery of the iCreate Skills Festival 2018 and for having made us a part of it! We were really impressed about the quality of the event and the great delivery. We are truly looking forward for next year’s session” Mrs. Ana Vihambres, Team Leader, Mafita / UKAid “It was a pleasure partnering with iCreate Africa on the iCreate skills festival 2018. The event was a positive way of showcasing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Nigeria, especially in construction, ICT and creative industries sectors.” Mr. Hans-Ludwig Bruns, Head of Programme, Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE), GIZ Nigeria. “This has never happened in this country. It shows that the youth are ready to move this country forward.” Mr. Anthony Imoisili, Regional Business Executive Abuja, representing the MD, Sterling Bank Plc “I like to express our gratitude to iCreate Skills Fest for the single purpose of encouraging the youth and develop their skills. We are here to promote skills and to encourage those in the construction building sector to properly harness their skills in a professional manner using professional tools and equipment to give the best quality of workmanship.” Arc. Ikenna Chukwueke, CEO Cachez Design Ltd. (Sponsor of Tiling Competition) 11 The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Berlin, Germany places premium on facilitating initiatives that are geared towards skills acquisition and development for the Nigerian youthful population through technical and vocational education for both national consumption and for export to countries in need of skilled labour. We are cognisant of the fact that the development of skills that are demand-driven is, no doubt, one of the most viable and sustainable solutions for irregular migration. Considering Germany’s unique dual track educational system in vocational training therefore, the Embassy has continued to promote cooperation between Nigeria and Germany in the area of vocational training through a robust engagement with some of the German States who have made giant strides in the field of vocation. Following its track record in promoting skills acquisition for our teeming youths in Nigeria, iCreate Africa has been outstanding in promoting programmes to help develop the skills of young Nigerians to be self-independent in order to reduce the growing unemployment rate in the country. The Embassy wishes to associate itself with such initiative and will continue to support iCreate Africa and other organisations that are focussed on youth empowerment for the overall development of our country which is in accordance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Administration’s policy on youth development.
