A Courageous Choice for the Future On October 30th, 2013, a celebration in suppor t of our ongoing commitment to our Campaign: A Courageous Choice for the Future was hosted by Diane B. Wilsey at the De Young Tower. Mrs. Wilsey’s generosity, gave us the platform to highlight the effor ts on behalf of our Campaign and invite ICA Board of Directors, longtime suppor ters, and new friends to hear about our progress with Courageous Choice for the Future. Sister Diane Aruda, President of ICA, opened the evening with inspirational remarks of gratitude for Mrs. Wilsey’s generosity and all of our ICA 12 Fall 2013 suppor ters, sharing the good news regarding the following achievements: • 100% of the Class of 2013 were accepted to and currently are enrolled in college • 64% are the first in their families to attend college • Class of 2013 students were awarded $3.8 million dollars in college scholarships • This year, 101 young women are enrolled in our Freshman class CWSP has secured 75 paid jobs - fully employing our ICA students! Lisa Ikeda, Kathleen Lunbeck, Julia Clark Dobel, Liz Vaughan & Greg Vaughan Tim Szarnicki, Director of CWSP, introduced three of our CWSP Par tners, Brown and Toland, Clark Construction and San Francisco Credit Union. Each representative spoke of the strength of the ICA program, the dedication of our students to their job responsibilities and their corporate commitment to the educational oppor tunity provided to ICA students. Steve Lanctot, Campaign Chair, spoke eloquently about his passion for completing our Campaign and raising the remaining $4.5 million dollars towards our 13.5 million dollar Campaign goal. With great enthusiasm, Steve introduced and announced Liz Vaughn as our new Major Gifts Chair. Liz has been a member of the ICA Auxiliary, a sponsor of the ICA Gala and a suppor ter of our annual Women’s Business Luncheon. Liz is also an ICA volunteer extraordinaire, escor ting our students to their work sites in Oakland every week on BART. Liz brings her enthusiasm and dedication and her true commitment to ICA at this very impor tant time in our Campaign.
