and not the tail” and my purpose to my family is to lead. I know that at times it has been a challenge to be married to an athlete, but my wife is a strong confident woman who has always stood up to anything that has been thrown our way. We have learned that people enjoy throwing stones without ever taking into account what type of foundation their home is built on. The McMillans are blessed and believe it is important to be best friends as well as lovers by keeping our circle small and leaning on our faith. Marriage is tough work and you must be willing to put in the work to make this game a successful one. My wife is Puerto Rican and German and the one thing many people do not know about me is that my mother is Japanese. Having multiple ethnic backgrounds means a very multicultural house. We love spending time in the kitchen in our beautiful home. It’s pretty much where we all connect many times throughout the day. We cook together, we clean together and we share our days together. We pride ourselves in keeping it real with our children. We strive to keep a close and open relationship unique to each child. Each one of our children possesses such beautiful gifts. It is my job as a parent to recognize them and nurture their talents while they are young. I enjoy seeing my children grow into their own and it brings my wife and I so much joy. Once again family is also hard work and you have to be willing to make the time in order to make this one a successful one. My oldest son is Niko McMillan and he is currently in college at Tuskegee University pursuing NCAA football with a focus in nursing and I couldn’t be more proud of the steps my son has taken in his journey. He is a well-rounded, smart and a talented athlete who will go far in life. My 9 year old Niiza McMillan is my straight A student. This child takes pride in her academics and strives for excellence on her own. I have no doubt in my mind that she will have multiple scholarships to whatever school her heart’s desire. My four-year-old Shiori McMillan is my mini me. Her confidence and free spirit has Liza and I excited about her future. She embraces the spotlight and is a natural. Then there is our baby Prince Toshio Masaou McMillan! He is truly the light in our eyes and it brings us so much joy to see him grow into a little man. I feel that my job is to teach my son’s how to be men and all the rules of the game that my father taught me. Leadership, accountability and grit are what’s requires from the McMillan household and I ask that the good Lord guide my judgment for the years ahead. I pray that they will be amongst the leaders of the new generation z. Expect to hear more from me in the year ahead. I see doors opening and new opportunities on the horizon!
