IB Art Exhibition 2021 | Page 5

Max White ( OS 2016 ) I am over the moon to have been invited to contribute to this year ’ s IB exhibition . Being an Old Sennockian , I cannot be happier with the direction of Sevenoaks School ’ s Art department and every year since I said farewell to its walls the quality of work has grown stronger .
Since I left the school my creativity has continued . I recently graduated with a BSc in Architecture at Cardiff University and since then I have been working full-time as a fine artist . My work since Sevenoaks has been a long process of developing the ideas and concepts I touched upon in my own IB exhibition . My work , originally rooted in the urban experience , now centres on the idea of harmony , in composition , colour and subject matter . Whilst trying to find a voice in the contemporary art industry , I take inspiration from various old masters such as Birge Harrison and James Whistler , as well as contemporary artists such as Jeremy Mann and Wendelin Wohlgemuth . My goal is to create art that features good draughtsmanship while feeling contemporary in its execution .
It is unfortunate that this year ’ s exhibition will not be physical . However , that does not dull the achievement of these young artists . The work and patience that goes into the work on display is always incredible . I congratulate all the artists on making it through such an unusual ordeal where many new problems required complicated solutions . Bravo .
