Almonds fuel marathon runners

26
AUSTRALIAN Almonds was pleased to sponsor the Mildura Riverfront Marathon held on June 9. Six hundred people participated in the event, which included 42km, 21km, 10km and 5km races. Competitors travelled from as far away as Japan to participate. As runners crossed the finished line, they were handed a tin of almonds along with their finishers medal. It was a great opportunity to promote the benefits of eating almonds to help with muscle repair and recovery. For the second year in a row, David Staehr crossed the finish line first in the marathon with a time of 2:42:17. The almond chair was in high demand, featuring in photos with runners and spectators. The almond industry was represented with Select Harvests’ Josh Moss competing in the marathon and Omnia’ s Ken Reid completing the half marathon.
