Not only would the Gordy improve comm-unity relations, it could also bring in extra revenue. According to Teresa Williams, ASO tutor at Reinhardt, “The Gordy Center used to host high school proms in the 1980’s; our website says that our facility can still be rented out for private functions.” With the new expansion, the Gordy Center could and should become an even more desirable venue for people to host events. That money could then be spent for more dormitories, athletic facilities, improvement of the class-rooms, and even the bridge that Reinhardt is supposedly putting over the lake from the Hubbard dormitories to the FPAC, so it would be easier for certain students to get to their Communication, Media Studies and Music classes.

The newly renovated Gordy Center will tremendously improve student morale and health. Students will be walking around with more smiles on their faces when they enter. Being comfortable and knowing that Thursday is going to have different choices

of food than Tuesday will create a sign of satisfaction that the Gordy does not know of today. The new Gordy will bring the students of Reinhardt together for good food and good company.

Reinhardt University is an up-and-coming,, growing University. We have a new President, two new sports coming in, and we already have championship-caliber teams. As we bring in more athletes, we need to provide better food for them as well as a better place for them to enjoy their food. The plans for both expansion of the facility and reimagining the menu are definitely a sign that Reinhardt is adapting to the changing needs of its students and the community. We hope Frank and Evelyn Gordy will be proud of what the dining center named in their honor will become in the coming years.
