The best thing that's ever happened to me The best thing that's ever happened to me In the middle of my second year in highschool, I heard about a concert that took place in Zagreb,Croatia in the summer. The group that played was Red Hot Chili Peppers and they're one of my favourite bands so I was extremely excited. Back then, my mom was stricter than she is now when I'm older, so I wasn't sure if she would let me go but the concert was a must-see! Some of my classmates also liked RHCP and we were planning to go to the concert but I made plans with my friend Nika who is also a fan of the band. When I told my mom about the concert, we made a bargain that I could go if I got my grades up by the end of the school year. I worked hard and my grades got better but they still weren't what my mom had expected so I was really nervous and afraid that she wouldn't let me go. I kept on persuading her and begging her for permission the whole June and July. As my birthday came on 5th of August, I received an envelope from my mom and inside there was a concert ticket! Although I had a hunch about the birthday present, my eyes got filled with tears and I was just so grateful. It was the first bigger concert that I attended and I saw one of the best bands live! On the day of the concert, on the 28th of August, my mom dropped me of at the Thermal Park because a bus came to pick us upwe had an organised transportation to the concert. Nika and me met four other friends Žan, Erik, Kaja and Luka on the bus and we drove to Zagreb. The concert took place at the Hippodrome so we were standing under the sun and it was about 32°C and the crowd was getting bigger and bigger and so was the heat. The waiting was exhausting because we were tired, hot and thirsty and if we had gone anywhere we'd have lost the spot. The band came on stage at about 21:30 and as soon as I saw the band members and heard Anthony Kiedis greeting us I started crying hysterically. When the music started playing we started singing and jumping and dancing and there were good vibes all around us and the atmosphere was absolutely great. After the concert we felt like we were half dead because we let out our hearts and energy at the show. As people started leaving it got easier to move around so we sat down on the grass, still mesmerized by what had just happened and that concert was the best thing that's ever happened to me. -ANA Many people would argue with my decision but I value the simplest things most, the things many people take for granted. Life. Life is not a given right but rather a gift. My life is the most important thing that’s ever happened to me. Life is with me from my birth till my death. It’s the embodiment of my soul in an earthly form. It’s a gift and a curse, with so many unanswered questions, “Why am I here?” being the most important one. In the years I have lived here the answer has only drifted further and further from my grasp. I’m not ready to learn it, not yet. Life is written on many pages of a never-ending book. Each day marks the end of one chapter and opens the door to another. New chapters let old grievances wither and die, giving me a chance for a new fresh start. I’m the alpha and omega in this book; I’m the judge, the writer and the director. My hands shape what is, was and will be. I find life extremely fascinating. We, the humans, live for dozens of years but never unlock the secrets of life, we go to the other side with so many unanswered questions, “Why am I here?” being one of them. Our living robs us of the feelings needed to answer the secret of life. We spend too much time worrying about belonging and consequently we completely forget that we belong somewhere from our birth. There’s no need to find something new. Only to find the lost and forgotten. Only then will we truly understand life. Many great people, Tesla, Einstein, Newton and Beethoven, to name a few, found the place they originally belonged to. They changed the world for the better, be it with music or science. This is why life is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. It deities understanding and will be clouded in mystery only until we find the place we originally belonged to. - TILEN FACT FILE~ Some scenes from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian were filmed in Slovenia’s Soca Valley.
