He taught that everything was
designed with purpose. And when you
want to know the purpose of something
you ask the manufacturer. The
manufacturer designs the product with
the potential to fulfill the purpose for
which it is created. Dr. Munroe shared
so many times that "The greatest
tragedy in life is not death, but life
without a purpose."
IAQ: Congratulations on your book The
Calling Card of Business – Success
from the Inside Out! Tell us more about
it.
April Ripley: I wrote this book because
the people whom we call great are
great because of what is going on
inside of them. Their success begins
from within. Successful people
discover their purpose and craft a
vision for their lives, families and
business endeavors. There are other
traits that I talk more about in the book.
My company, The Premiere Image,
Inc., helps people to drive into their
destiny, build a legacy, and live
exceptionally in every area of their
lives. Dr. Myles Munroe would often
say, “don’t put your name on a
building, put your name in people.”
This is not to discount those whose
names are on buildings, but a reminder
that it’s the impact we make in the lives
of others that create our legacy and
help to build theirs. There is a distinct
difference between an inheritance and
a legacy: an inheritance is what you
leave for someone; a legacy is what
you leave in someone. My hope is to
leave both!
IAQ: In this time of economic
uncertainty, what advice would you
give today's Queen about the best
ways to invest their money?
April Ripley:
Before I speak to investing, there are
some financial basics things that we
need to implement. Here is the advice I
would give today's women on how to
invest and manage her financial affairs
(in general):
1. Be honest about where you are
financially. What are your assets?
What are your debts or liabilities? How
did you get where you are? Good or
bad Habits? Proper or poor Planning?
2. Set a budget for yourself. There
are online templates and apps that are
great for tracking spending. Make
saving and investing part of your
budget plan.
3. Set goals. What are you saving or
investing for, and why? These
questions are vital to sticking with your
savings and budget plans.
4. Educate yourself about money.
Successful people read. There are
many financial resources, especially
online: Yahoo! finance, Forbes,
Bloomberg, The Economist and The
Huffington Post, etc.
5. Get a free consultation with a
financial planner. They can help you
plan for the future and offer investing
and saving tools to help you reach your
financial goals.
