Hyflux made its first foray into wildlife projects in 1999, when it designed
and built a wastewater recycling system for the Singapore Jurong Bird
Park, which supplied clean water for the penguin enclosure. The system
used membranes that were produced in-house by the R&D team; the
first generation of Hyflux’s award-winning proprietary Kristal® hollow-
fibre ultrafiltration (UF) membranes.
