Explanation: For the ignorant souls out there, there was a creative writing competition this In-
fest, Catharsis ‘17, with topics primarily designed to live up to the title, “The Absurd”. One was
meant to choose one starting line, ending line and a photo, and try to incorporate all that into
a story. Word limit: 100-1000; for who are we to limit the creative process!?
SET A – Starting Lines
1. Several years ago, back when I was old...
2. Every time I look at a bee, I wonder how foolishly
ignorant people are about the Flooponians which live
on them...
3. I stared in wide amazement at the small wire that
came out from the wound on my hand...
4. “Listen, you douchebag!”, said my dog...
5. I opened my drawer, picked up my crayons and start-
ed drawing on the wall. The time had come...
SET B – Ending lines

1. ...Maybe it will happen in 2 years, or maybe it will hap-
pen in 197.3 years, but whenever it does, I shall be ready
with my fork and knife.
2. ...After this I never dared to pick a fight with a grasss-
hopper again
3. ...And this is why I had to bomb the island
4. “... And now, prepare to die”, he said to me.
5. ...The doctor came out and said, “The operation is
successful. The patient is dead”.
