CHECKLIST!
It is that time of year when high school seniors get freaked out about the college application
process. Being overwhelmed by all the essays and forms as well as school work, seniors do
need help to pace themselves and stay on track. Below, our generous college counselors
have provided a checklist for seniors. The information may be helpful to those who are
stressed out and worried. Use this list to check your process.
_ You have your Naviance account linked with your Common Application account.
_ You have signed the FERPA Agreement contract (waiving your right to see your
recommendations written by your teachers).
_ You have developed a list of schools, preferably a number between 10-12.
_ You have come up with a checklist for yourself, including all important deadlines, dates of
interviews and dates for exams.
_ If you are applying to UCs and Cal States, the deadline is Nov. 30.
_ You have completed your senior survey that will be used by your counselor.
_ You have finished drafts of your essays and are ready to make adjustments.
_ For early decisions and priorities, you have your materials ready by the deadline.
_ You have taken your standardized tests, SAT, ACT and TOEFL, and you have signed up if
you are taking them again.
_ You are keeping up with current classes.
_ You have completed or will make an appointment with your college counselor for extra
help.
