line ,” he said . “ So when I actually reached the finish line , all those emotions just came through .”
Didier was excited with the traditional red carpet finish line . He had trained daily for six months , teaching his body to endure the hours and miles required to be completed during the race . If at any point Didier didn ’ t finish a portion of the race within time limits , he would be disqualified .
“ My story is a message of hope . There are no limits to your progress when the three trinity are involved . It takes commitment . No excuses ,” Didier said .
He finished the Ironman in 5 hours and 47 minutes . The challenge included a 1.2 mile swim in the Brazos River , 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run .
While he isn ’ t sure what the next big idea will be , he is sure that his faith will lead him towards it .
Since the big race , Didier has been enjoying time with his family , including his young daughter . His daughter , Barbara , just turned 9 and plays soccer , piano , volleyball , basketball and gymnastics . His wife , Jenn , is the department chair for the health and kinesiology at Sam Houston State University . They have been married for 12 years . But one thing is for sure , Didier isn ’ t slowing down . He can ’ t allow himself to lose focus on sharing his story of recovery and making a difference in as many lives as he can .
