Strategic Brand Management
Islamic Finance
High Performance Innovation
A brand is a uniquely-identified promise of
value which can develop into a relationship
that consistently and competitively satisfies the
desires of its stakeholders. A brand, therefore,
is not just a fancy logo or a catchy slogan.
It should stand for the core values that the
customer will associate with that brand, so
that they perceive added value over and above
what the product or service actually does. The
course will examine, amongst other aspects,
the concepts of brand asset management,
brand equity, brand value and, of course,
managing brands strategically to optimize
long-term value for the organization.
This course offers comprehensive and practical
exposure to the growing world of Islamic
finance. Taught by 1979 alum, Dr. Omar Fisher,
the course will cover Islamic capital markets
and sukuk (Islamic bonds) structuring and
issuance with the adoption of practical examples. Throughout the course similarities and
differences between Islamic and conventional
finance will be addressed and contextualized
highlighting their impact on the financial industry, markets, and economic development.
This course will cover the definition of innovation, the barriers and enablers for making innovation real in companies, the core principles for
innovation management (platforms, portfolios,
partners, pipelines, concepts, and culture), and
how innovation management is being applied
by fast-followers and companies in commodity industries. This course is also taught by a
2009 Hult alum, Samuel Freeman, who is also
a Senior Manager at the Center for Innovation,
Excellence, and Leadership or IXL Center.
