The compromised information could hurt the U.S. in future conflicts, as the designs include those for missile defenses, combat aircraft and ships. “Senior military and industry officials... said the vast majority were part of a widening Chinese campaign of espionage against U.S. defense contractors... ,” the Post reported. McCAIN MAKES SECRET TRIP ABROAD Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) went to Syria on Monday to meet with rebel leaders, becoming the highest-ranking U.S. official to go to the country since it was engulfed by conflict more than two years ago. McCain, who has called for more intervention in Syria, met with Gen. Salem Idris, the leader of the Free Syrian Army’s Supreme Military Council. Even McCain’s daughter didn’t know about the trip, writing on Twitter that she found out about it through the social network. LIVESTRONG STILL FACING FALLOUT Nike ended its partnership with Lance Armstrong’s Livestrong cancer charity after nine years, during which it helped the foundation raise more than $100 million. The news is just the latest setback for Armstrong after he admitted that he used performanceenhancing drugs to win the Tour de France seven times. “We expected and planned for changes like this and are therefore in a good position to adjust swiftly and move forward with our patient-focused work,” the foundation said in a statement to the AP.
